This week I had a desire to try and make something I have never made before. I started to peruse Pinterest for inspiration when I found out this past Thursday was National Lollipop Day. So I thought, "Perfect, I've never attempted to make candy before!" Candy making has always intimidated me with its sugar boiling and candy thermometers, but I finally conquered the candy making unknown and creating these homemade lollipops turned out to be super easy!
I chose to make rosé lollipops because #1- it's summer so "rosé all day" and #2- I LOVE rosé and am always trying to find ways to incorporate it into recipes. These lollipops are such a fun treat and would be perfect as party favors or gifts! I had so much fun making these I'm hoping to make some fun "virgin" lollipops as a favor for Bennett's 2nd birthday party this Fall!
You should definitely try to make some homemade lollipops yourself! All you need is a candy thermometer, lollipop mold and lollipop sticks! Your friends are going to LOVE the rosé flavor but there are endless possibilities to the lollipop flavor combinations you can try!
Rosé Lollipops
Ingredients
1/4 cup + 1 tsp rosé wine
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 Tbsp cold water
3 Tbsp corn syrup
Dash of salt
Edible Flowers or Floral Icing Decorations if desired
What You'll Need
Instructions
Mix 3/4 cup rosé, sugar, water, corn syrup and salt in medium saucepan until sugar is wet. Heat mixture on medium heat stirring occasionally until it's boiling. Attach candy thermometer and reduce heat to medium-low and allow to boil without mixing until candy thermometer reads 300 degrees F (or "hard crack" stage). (While mixture is boiling add edible flowers or floral icing decorations to molds if desired). Remove from heat and quickly stir in remaining tsp of rosé. Carefully pour hot mixture into lollipop molds and insert lollipop sticks. Put molds into refrigerator to cool completely before attempting to remove lollipops.
Enjoy!!
